About Solmar Villas

Solmar Villas is run from a head office in Burton upon Trent, where Solmar says most of its team of more than 100 people are based. John and Maria Tayler founded it in 1994, after renting out their own apartment in Menorca and helping friends to rent their properties. DER Touristik UK became its controlling shareholder in January 2024 and was renamed DERTOUR UK in February 2026.

Solmar sells to holidaymakers direct and through travel agents. It says it has more than 2,500 villas in over 40 destinations, and that every villa comes with its own private pool. Destinations include mainland Spain and the Balearic and Canary Islands, Portugal and Madeira, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta and Gozo, as well as Florida. Solmar sells its villas on their own or with flights, car hire and transfers.

Solmar Villas Ltd is an ABTA member (W1485) and an ATOL holder (10334). Solmar says it won nine British Travel Awards in 2025.
