About Stripe
Stripe describes itself as a technology company that builds economic infrastructure for the internet. It has dual headquarters in San Francisco and Dublin, with offices in London and other cities. Stripe says businesses of every size use it, from new startups to public companies, and that it is available to businesses in more than 50 countries.
For online payments it offers Checkout, Elements and Payment Links, along with Invoicing, Billing, Terminal for in-person payments and Radar for fraud prevention. In the UK it supports cards, Apple Pay and Pay by Bank, which it describes as powered by Open Banking, as well as Klarna and other buy now, pay later methods. Its travel industry page mentions instalments, local payment methods and multi-currency transactions.
Stripe said in February 2026 that businesses on Stripe generated $1.9 trillion in total volume in 2025, up 34% from 2024. In the UK, Stripe Payments UK Ltd is listed on the FCA register as an authorised electronic money institution.
