THE SHORT VERSION

A connecting flight is part of a journey in which the traveller changes aircraft before reaching the final destination.

A connecting journey requires a change of aircraft before the final destination. The transfer process depends on the itinerary. KLM explains that it can involve obtaining another boarding pass, collecting and rechecking baggage or passing through additional security and passport checks. Explain the whole itinerary

Show each flight, airport and planned connection clearly. Check whether the journey involves separate tickets and ask the booking provider to confirm the arrangements for a missed connection. This helps the traveller understand the booking rather than assuming that all flight combinations work alike.

Check the practical transfer

Review terminal changes, baggage instructions and any assistance needs against the airline and airport guidance. Include the onward flight’s boarding deadline in the explanation. This makes the connection easier to assess than looking only at the time between the two scheduled flights.
