THE SHORT VERSION

Cross-domain measurement connects analytics across separate website domains so a visitor journey can be measured more consistently.

Cross-domain measurement connects analytics across separate website domains so a visitor journey can be measured more consistently.

In Google Analytics, cross-domain measurement helps connect user and session data when someone moves between configured domains. Without the appropriate setup, a visit to a website and its separate booking domain can be counted as different users and sessions. Redirects that remove linking parameters can interrupt this connection. Source: Google Analytics: Cross-domain measurement

Test the route to a booking

Map the journey from a holiday page to the booking service and confirmation page. Ask the teams responsible for both domains to test that route together. This makes the handover visible instead of leaving each team to check only its own pages.

Check what the report counts

Use a clearly identified test reservation and compare the recorded journey with the steps taken. Check consent choices and any redirects during the test. Resolve unexplained breaks or duplicate purchase events before using the report to judge campaign performance.
