THE SHORT VERSION

Descriptive link text gives readers and search engines context about the destination; Google recommends making links crawlable through normal HTML links. Link to the next useful answer
In a guide to family holidays, link to a relevant booking page or an explanation of room occupancy where the reader needs that detail. Choose the link because it answers a likely question. Avoid adding a link solely to increase the number on the page.
Check the destination
Open the link and confirm that it reaches the intended page. Read its label without the surrounding paragraph and check that it still makes sense. This makes the route easier to follow and gives the editorial team a practical check when pages change.
