GLOSSARY
Payments
THE SHORT VERSION
Settlement currency concerns the money received at the business’s payout destination. Stripe distinguishes it from the currency charged to the customer. Its additional-currency settlement options depend on the supported account, country and currency arrangements. Source: Stripe: settlement in additional currencies Source: Stripe: supported currencies
Follow the payment through to the payout
For a travel payment review, keep the original charge beside the provider’s settlement and payout records. Record each amount with its currency. This prevents an apparent difference being treated as an error before the conversion and fees have been examined.
Use a completed sample transaction to ask the provider how the funds moved. Include a refund example if refunds form part of your normal workflow, so your review is not limited to the successful sale.
Check support before making a promise
Ask which currencies the particular business account can receive and which bank details are required. Confirm the applicable fees and conversion route from the current provider terms. Do not promise a customer or finance colleague that an account will settle in a currency simply because the website can display it.
