THE SHORT VERSION
A meta description is a summary supplied in a page’s HTML metadata. Google may use it for the descriptive snippet in search results, but primarily generates snippets from the page itself. The wording shown can change with the search, so the supplied description is not a fixed preview. Source: Google Search Central: Control your snippets
Describe the actual page
For a travel enquiry page, explain what the visitor can request and what information the page provides. Keep the wording specific to that page. This helps the person deciding whether to visit and gives the writer a clear test: does the description accurately represent the content?
Review it with the content
When a page changes, review its description in the same task. Remove references to offers or services the page no longer covers. Read the description aloud and replace a list of keywords with a useful sentence, because the summary needs to make sense to a person choosing a result.
