THE SHORT VERSION
A search engine results page, usually shortened to SERP, displays the results returned for a search. Google’s visual guide describes elements such as title links and descriptive snippets, alongside other result formats. The appearance can vary with the query, device and search context. Record the whole context
For an illustrative review of “family holidays in Crete”, record the wording searched, the date and the device used. Note the kinds of pages shown and the questions they answer. This makes the review more useful than an isolated screenshot with no explanation of how it was produced.
Use the review to improve the page
Look for a specific reader need your page can answer clearly, then check its title, opening explanation and next step. Do not copy a competing page simply because it appears in one result set. The purpose of the exercise is to sharpen your own page brief, with sources for any facts you add.
