THE SHORT VERSION
A hotel PMS supports day-to-day property operations. Oracle identifies reservations, guest check-in and check-out, room assignments, room rates and billing among its functions. The functions and connected services available depend on the chosen system and its configuration. Source: Oracle: Hotel property management systems
Map the work the property needs
List the steps from receiving a reservation to checking out the guest, including room allocation and payment records. Ask a supplier to demonstrate those steps with a realistic example. This makes the evaluation about the actual workflow rather than a list of feature names.
Check the connections explicitly
Confirm which information passes between the PMS, booking engine and channel manager. Agree who investigates a failed update. Include an amendment and cancellation in the demonstration. This helps establish how the connected process behaves when a booking changes.
