Pricing
THE SHORT VERSION
The rack rate is a standard published room rate before promotions or discounts. Cloudbeds describes it as the undiscounted rate for a particular room type. It provides a reference when discussing rates, rather than establishing what every guest will pay for a stay. Source: Cloudbeds: Hotel rate types
Compare the same room and conditions
Check dates, room type, occupancy, meals and cancellation terms before comparing an offered price with a rack rate. Keep the hotel’s current information with the quote. This gives the comparison a clear basis instead of relying on a familiar rate label.
Check a claimed saving
Ask the supplier to explain the reference price and retain the evidence before describing a discount. Show the actual price and conditions clearly. This helps the traveller assess the offer on its own terms and gives the team support for the comparison it presents.
