THE SHORT VERSION
A room type is a category of room offered by a property. Booking.com’s room type documentation treats the room name, occupancy, bedding and amenities as distinct information. A familiar label alone is therefore not enough for a careful comparison. Source: Booking.com: room types
A family booking example
Imagine two offers at the same hotel, both described as a family room. One could specify a double bed and sofa bed while the other gives no bedding detail. Do not assume they meet the same requirement. Ask for the missing information before presenting them as interchangeable.
This is an illustrative comparison, not a claim about a particular hotel. Use the actual supplier description and confirmation when advising a customer.
Questions worth resolving
Record who will sleep in the room, the stated bed arrangement and any feature the family considers essential. Separate a confirmed feature from a request, because the customer needs to know which details remain unresolved.
If two suppliers use different names, compare the underlying details before combining their offers. Keep the supplier’s original room description in your record so a later query can be checked against what was sold.
