THE SHORT VERSION

A hotel booking window is the time between making a reservation and the check-in date, commonly measured in days.

A hotel booking window is the time between making a reservation and the check-in date, commonly measured in days.

Cloudbeds defines booking window as the number of days between the booking date and check-in. It describes how far ahead a reservation was made. It is a different interval from the length of the stay itself. Source: Cloudbeds: Booking data definitions

Make the dates explicit

In a hypothetical example, a reservation made on 1 June for arrival on 15 June has a 14-day booking window. Keep both dates with the figure. This makes the calculation reproducible and prevents a booking date being mistaken for a stay date.

Compare like groups

Review booking windows by an agreed group, such as room type or booking source, using consistent dates and cancellation rules. Explain those choices beside the report. This gives a timing pattern a clearer meaning than combining reservations prepared on different bases.
