THE SHORT VERSION

Price revalidation is a fresh check of a selected offer before booking to establish whether its price and availability are still valid.

Price revalidation is a fresh check of a selected offer before booking to establish whether its price and availability are still valid.

Price revalidation checks a selected offer again before the booking is made. In Expedia Group’s Rapid API, Price Check can return an unchanged rate, a changed price or a result showing that the selected rate is no longer available. These are documented outcomes for that API, not a promise about every supplier connection. Source: Expedia Group: Rapid shopping and price checks

A travel example

Suppose a customer selects a hotel at £420. A later check returns £435. In this illustrative case, show the revised total and ask the customer to accept it before continuing. Do not silently replace the amount the customer chose.

What the check does not settle

The check is one step in the booking flow. Keep it separate from the result of the booking request and the resulting booking status. Ask your provider to show the confirmation response as well as the price-check response. Source: Expedia Group: managing a booking

A useful test

Request three demonstrations: the price stays the same, the price changes and the offer becomes unavailable. Check the customer message, the agent’s record and the next action in each case. This gives the team a practical response to changes instead of a vague “something went wrong” message.
