Give interested travellers a useful reason to return
Retargeting can show adverts to an eligible audience of people who have interacted with your business. For a travel company, this might mean reminding recent website visitors about a planning service, answering a common question or sharing a relevant itinerary. It is an optional test, not a requirement for every new website.
A helpful reason to return
Illustrative creative copy, not a platform screenshot or live advert.

Planning your first cruise?
Make the topic recognisable without implying you watched an individual browse.

Check whether you are ready
You need useful existing traffic, a relevant page to return to and a way to judge enquiries. A website with very little eligible traffic may be better served by improving its content and promoting it through existing customer relationships first. The number of people in a usable advertising audience can be lower than the number recorded as website visitors.
Set up measurement properly
Read Measure your results first. Ask your website team to confirm how Meta events can be supported on your site and how advertising consent is respected. Test the customer's choice to accept and refuse advertising tracking. Then verify the events needed for your goal. Seeing a PageView does not prove that enquiry submissions or bookings are working correctly.
Plan a small campaign
- Choose one purpose: completed enquiries, bookings, or visits to a genuinely useful resource. Select the campaign objective and performance goal that match that purpose.
- Define an appropriate audience and time window for the customer's decision. A recent destination-page visitor may need different information from someone who booked months ago.
- Check the live campaign settings carefully. In some setups, an audience can be a suggestion that allows broader delivery. If the test is intended only for previous visitors, confirm that the selected controls actually restrict delivery.
- Exclude people for whom the message is no longer relevant, where supported. For example, somebody who has already requested the advertised consultation may need personal follow-up instead.
- Prepare creative for the placements you use. Check cropping, text size, captions and buttons in the previews. Use photographs you have permission to publish and ensure they represent the offer honestly.
- Set an affordable test budget, review date and named owner. Understand the budget rules displayed in your account before enabling the campaign.
A useful advert
Thinking about your first cruise? Our guide explains cabin choices, dining and what to check before you book. Read the guide, then ask us about the options that suit your trip.
Link to the cruise guide described. Replace the example with your actual service and content; avoid wording that announces you have been watching somebody browse.
Check the audience and goal before launch
Write down the intended outcome and the settings that control the test.
What useful action do we need?
Separate a visit, a completed enquiry and a confirmed booking.
Restriction or suggestion?
Check what the selected setup can broaden; a campaign name does not prove delivery stayed within an audience.
Have we tested the intended events?
Verify consent handling and the successful action, including any external part of the journey.
Who checks the result, and when?
Review spend, frequency, valid enquiries and later bookings against your allowance.
Judge the result
Review spend, reach, frequency, landing-page visits and valid enquiries. Increasing repetition with little useful response is a reason to review the audience, message or spend. Judge success against your own lead quality and booking contribution, not a universal cheap-click target.
