THE SHORT VERSION

A long-tail keyword is a search query with relatively low individual search volume. Its length in words does not determine whether it is long-tail.

A long-tail keyword is a search query with relatively low individual search volume. Its length in words does not determine whether it is long-tail.

Long-tail keywords sit in the low-volume part of the search demand curve. Ahrefs defines them by how often they are searched, rather than how many words they contain. A specific phrase is not automatically a long-tail term. Low volume does not guarantee an easy ranking opportunity. Source: Ahrefs: Long-tail keywords

Start with a real question

Use enquiries and search reports to identify specific questions about the holidays you sell. Check the audience, location and date range behind any volume estimate. This gives a proposed article a clear reader and purpose before you decide whether it deserves a separate page.

Group closely related needs

Compare the question with pages already on the site. If an existing guide can answer it clearly, improve that guide and add a relevant heading. This keeps the library useful and avoids creating several thin pages that repeat the same advice.
