THE SHORT VERSION
Google supports richer presentations for eligible content using supported structured data. Each feature has its own requirements. Correct markup, including a successful Rich Results Test, does not guarantee that Google will display the enhancement. The markup must also represent the page’s visible content accurately. Choose the appropriate feature
Start with the content the page actually contains, then check Google’s current requirements for a matching feature. Ask the website team to explain that choice. This gives the work a defensible purpose rather than adding a format simply because another site uses it.
Check the page as well as the markup
Compare the structured information with the visible text and retain the test result with the review date. Repeat the check after material content changes. This helps keep the two versions consistent and gives future editors a record of what was verified.
